This weekend the Boys Lacrosse team takes to Grand Rapids Michigan to face off against East Grand Rapids Highschool and Forrest Hills Central Highschool in their first out of state trip of the season. The royals have been undefeated in their first 5 regular season games of the season with beating every team by at least 9 goals. Players leading the way are Senior attack Max Kemp with 17 goals, Junior attack David Gould with 11 assists, Senior FOGO Nick Weber with 42 face of wins, Senior Goalie Luke Williams with 4.4 goals against average.
Unfortunately going into Michigan, the royals are losing two vital pieces to their equation, Head Coach Scott Beesly and Assistant Coach O’Rourke but the royals are eager to see how they can battle the odds. Junior defense Dalton Fertig says “We definitely have some nerves going into this weekend. I mean with Beesly and no O’Rourke. The team and the coaches are a little worried about how it might play out. However I have confidence in the rest of our coaching staff, and I have confidence that we are goanna give it everything we got.”. For this weekend nerves aren’t labeled as irregular, Forrest Hills Central is ranked 9th in the state of Michigan and East Grand Rapids is ranked 8th so the competition will be high. “I think our team becomes significantly better after our trip to Michigan every year the teams we face there really show our weaknesses as a team and what we can improve on because of the level of talent we face. We also build a better bond as a brotherhood spending time together on the bus and in the hotel rooms.” Junior attack Marcus Laux says regarding their trip to Michigan this week.
Overall, this weekend should set up the teams expectations for when they return to Michigan in April to face the former division one champions Detroit Catholic Central.
