As the crack of the bat echoes into the billowing wind and the smell of fresh cut grass fills the field, baseball season is finally here. After months of offseason training, long workouts, and intense weightlifting, players are eager to kick off this season strong. Royal fans are beyond excited to follow the team’s journey to success, knowing that it will be the last ride for many seniors.
Isaiah Hamilton, a Senior Right Fielder, is determined to make this season his best one yet. After several months of strength training and refining his swing, he is ready to make an impact – not just for himself, but also for his team.
“My personal goals are to have under 10 strikeouts during this season,” Hamilton shares. “And I want to win sectionals.”
Visualizing goals during the preseason has made athletes, including Hamilton, feel more comfortable and focused for their upcoming season. By having a set of goals, players remain disciplined and mentally prepared to face talented and well-rounded teams throughout their season.
“I’m looking forward to playing Fishers,” Hamilton proclaims. “I know a lot of guys on their team, and every year the Mudsock game is the biggest regular season game of the year.”
Throughout the city of Fishers, Mudsock games bring a euphoric feeling for athletes, fans, and students alike. The deep-rooted rivalry between the two schools creates an electric atmosphere, where every hit, pitch, and play causes extra pressure for athletes. Therefore, it emphasizes the need for support systems and great team chemistry to handle adverse situations.
“I think we have good team chemistry,” Hamilton states. “We all get along really well and trust each other.”
With a tight bond, deep trust, and experience from many seniors, the team is ready to make this season one to remember.
“Since I’m a senior, I think just leading the underclassmen and setting a good example is my biggest leadership role,” Hamilton emphasizes.
