Senior Maya Valenta has been a dedicated softball player for the past 12 years. She is stepping into her final season. She looks back on the journey that has shaped her both on and off the field. With years of experience and love for the game, Valenta has become a key leader for the Royals, bringing energy, trust, and determination to every practice and game.
One of Valenta’s favorite parts of softball is the strong bond she has built with her teammates. “The trust I’ve built with my teammates and the high-energy environment is what makes playing so special,” she says. The connection between her and her teammates has been a driving force throughout her softball career. Her teammates push her to be the best player and athletes she can be. She cherishes every moment of the game with them.
As a senior, Valenta has set some meaningful goals. One goal that is greater than wins. “For my senior season, my goals are to have fun and to grow as a player,” she says. Having a personal goal is great but what Maya is more greatly focused on is the team’s goals “Our biggest goal is to have another successful season!” she states, adding to the importance of the team’s goals of getting back to the state championship.
More than just the game itself, softball has played a big role in shaping Maya’s confidence and mindset of Maya. “Playing softball has made me confident in who I am and inspires me to always push myself,” she says. The lessons she has learned through competition are resilience, teamwork, and perseverance will stay with her for the rest of her life.
Looking forward Valenta’s softball journey does not end here. After graduation she plans to pursue her athletic and academic career at the College of Wooster. As she gets ready for the next part of life, she remains focused on making the most of every remaining moment on the field, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, leadership, and love for her teammates.
