As the weather heats up, so does the start of spring sports, including baseball as the Royal season starts so do scrimmages. The Royals played against the Carmel greyhounds and their first scrimmage of the preseason and though the final score was not in the royals favor they continue to still be optimistic about the upcoming season.
When asked about the importance of scrimmages, senior pitcher Josh Lesniewski commented “learning how to build off each other’s mistakes just as a team we grow more” also referring to when they play against each other during practice Lesniewski said
“I’d say it’s like learning how to be competitive.”
Scrimmages are about more than just the score; they are about building skills, like being more competitive and preparing mentally for the challenges of the upcoming season they are focused on using their scrimmages as building blocks. They know that through challenges and setbacks, they will continue to grow stronger as a team.
