Hamilton Southeastern Royals baseball team junior Dylan Cope has positioned himself as a vital pitcher going into the 2024-2025 baseball season.
Ever since claiming the varsity mound, he has embraced challenges and responsibilities of a leader on the mound. His love for the game started early and his journey to becoming the Royals Baseball ace pitchers has been fueled by passion and dedication.
“I was introduced to baseball at age 2,” recalls Dylan Cope. “My father and I tried a lot of sports when I was little, and baseball was the one that caught my attention the most.”
His passion for the game has manifested itself in a high work ethic. Throughout his career, he has learned the value of discipline and hard work as he has developed.
“My work ethic has changed a lot as I’ve become more committed to baseball,” he says. “To be great at anything, you have to put in the time and effort that other people don’t want to do, and I think that’s exactly what I’ve committed myself to.”
This year, he has set out clear goals for himself and for the team.
“One of my personal goals is just to improve with every game, learn something new and attempt to apply it. As far as our team goal, we all want to win a lot of games this year; but to make a run for the state championship would be something really special for all of us,” Dylan says.
The confidence they have all been developed through years of maturation and the guidance of excellent coaching. One thing that has remained with him was learned from Coach Seitz when the Royals made their semi-state appearance several years ago.
“One thing Coach Seitz emphasized when we made semi-state a couple of years ago was just play loose, have fun, and play complimentary baseball because that is the key to success in baseball. I’ve kinda followed that the last couple of years.” Recalls Dylan.
With his commitment to improving as a ballplayer and being a quality leader on his squad, Dylan cope is ready for a fun junior season.
