Boys Lacrosse defeated the Brownsburg Bulldogs 27-1 at home on April 23rd
After starting the season off with an 11-0 record, the HSE boys lacrosse team faced their toughest stretch yet last weekend against nationally ranked Brother Rice and Catholic Central. But instead of dwelling on these losses, HSE boys lacrosse pushes forward, using these matches are fuel for what comes next.
“Our standard is show up, do your best, care deeply about those around you, and focus on the details,” head coach Scott Beesley stated. “Focusing on the ‘now’ is the most important thing we can do.”
So far, the focus that coach Beesley mentioned is what drove HSE to becoming the most disciplined and ferocious team on the field in the state of Indiana.
“I’m proud that we start games fast this year,” Beesley said. “That was something we didn’t do well in 2024.”
HSE’s success early in the season is no accident either. The Royal’s practices are intentionally sharp, meant to drill into the boys the importance of sharp and fast-paced execution and preparation.
“Our staff does a tremendous job of practice planning, and our captains take an immense amount of responsibility for making sure we’re prepared pre-game,”Beesley noted. “We practice two to three times more than we play games.”
The focus isn’t on past results as playoffs approach, but on daily growth. The Royals remain focused on what matters the most: getting better, together.
“Playoffs [are] a long ways away,” Beesley reflected. “Today we got better, and I hope the team shows up with the same growth mindset next time that they had today.”
If there’s one thing that the Royals have proved during their fight for state championship, it’s that great teams aren’t made by easy wins – they’re forged during moments that test their discipline, perseverance, and unity.
