On May 9, 2025, the Hamilton Southeastern Girls Lacrosse team played Evansville Memorial with home field advantage. The girls Won this game with a final score of 22 to 8 securing them a spot playing in the next round leading to state next Friday or Saturday.
During this game the royals wasted no time setting the pace, taking control early on and never stopping. Led by three girls tied for the most goals scored: Emma Reichert, Reagan Janes, and Sarah Gastineau, each with 5 goals and 2 of the girls making personal records for goals scored in a single game.
Reichert who plays attack helped lead the offensive strategy. “I helped run our offense,” Reichert said. “Contributing with some assists and helped everyone stay composed. Our connection was really strong last night everyone was on their A-game.” Reichert’s performance wasn’t just about what happened on the stat sheet. She brought leadership, vision, and patience to the team’s offensive flow calmly directing movement, finding open passes, and setting the tone in key moments. “I think five goals is my PR,” added Reichert. “But it was the team chemistry that made it special.”
With Gastineau playing midfield the whole game, she contributes in more ways than just goals. “Whether it was through communication, hustle, or making plays,” said Gastineau. “Focused on doing my part to help us secure the win.” Gastineau credits her motivation to her dad, a teacher at HSE who hasn’t missed a game this season. “Having my dad in the stands every game gives me the motivation to play harder and stay focused,” said Gastineau. “I want to make him proud.”
Janes, who handled the draw also scored a personal-best of five goals. “Draw control resets the field to a 50/50 battle, it’s like a faceoff in boys lacrosse,” explained Janes. “In addition to goals and draws, I tried my best to keep a positive attitude and uplift the team. But it really came down to a full team effort. Without everyone working together, we wouldn’t have scored that high.
The victory advances HSE to the next round of playoffs, scheduled for Friday the 16th with hopes of carrying their momentum forward.
“This was some of the younger players’ first sectional game,” Janes added. “It was really special to see everyone get a chance to play and show how great they are.”
