Hamilton Southeastern Royals Golf team senior Wyatt Watson has solidified himself as a key leader for the 2025 boys golf team.
Wyatt’s journey, however, didn’t begin on the golf course. He started his high school career on the baseball diamond, competing as part of the Hamilton Southeastern baseball team.
Although Wyatt’s baseball career is now done, the skills and mindset he built on the field are helping him excel on the course. “I most definitely think my past in baseball gives me an edge. Playing baseball my whole life helped me develop a competitive mindset. It also gave me a strong basis on the swing motion which transitioned to my golf swing.” He says.
The switch from baseball to golf has brought unexpected rewards. “The transition from baseball to golf has been more then I could have ever asked. I love playing golf with this team and going out every day and playing competitive golf.”
While Wyatt is a newcomer to the high school golf setting, that does not stop him from setting clear goals, and expectations for himself this season. “Improving my mental game and course management when playing,” he says, is an important priority of his.
Wyatt is also focused on the team success. “Other goals include being as good a teammate as possible and building relationships amongst the team.”
While golf is an individual sport, Wyatt is committed to bettering himself, as well as bringing the team together.
