The Hamilton Southeastern Varsity baseball team took the field against Lapel on April 26th, 2025, showing grit and growth in a win that ended with a final score of 8-6.
For Spencer Mohr, who recently transitioned from JV to Varsity, the game marked another step in a challenging but rewarding transition.
“The biggest difference in the level of competition is the velocity difference — it’s drastically changed from JV to Varsity. “Also, everything in the game with Varsity is played at a faster pace, making the game more competitive,” Mohr said.
The competition has been noticeably tougher on Varsity. “I just feel like the games are taken more seriously and are more meaningful to the team and players,” he added.
Despite the pressure, Mohr is embracing the new level of play. “The command of my off-speed has been a specific skill that has helped me through a couple of games pitching on Varsity. Also, the ability to limit walks when in a big situation, “he said.
Mohr’s steady development was evident in the win over Lapel, helping on the mound with key outs and showing stability in high-pressure moments is also proof of his confidence as it grows at the Varsity level. As the team continues through the season, Mohr remains focused on improvement and consistency.
The Royals return to action on April 30th against Fishers.
