On April 24th, 2025, Hamilton Southeastern’s girls’ track team made history by setting a new meet record in an exhilarating, hard-fought race that had fans and teammates alike on their feet.
Competing at North Central High School for the Charlie Riley Invitational, Ciara Kepner, Anissa Lammie, Elizabeth Butler, and Chloe Senefeld had a time of 3 minutes and 51 seconds, which surpassed the previous school record and will leave a lasting legacy on the school and future Royals track athletes for years to come.
From the beginning of the race, the team started out strong. Each handoff was smooth, and the team’s momentum and morale were not once shaken. While they hadn’t necessarily set out to break a meet record, it happened because of good team chemistry and the amazing ability to work together in order to achieve greatness, meet record broken or not. By the last leg, excitement from teammates and fans had set in, and everyone encouraged Chloe Senefeld as she soared across the finish line.
Breaking a meet record is no easy feat. This team has worked hard by practicing every day, shedding blood, sweat, and tears, and trying to perform to their full potential to be where they need to be. Doing that allowed them to break that record on race day, and will potentially motivate them to break more in the future.
With the weight of a broken meet record now on their shoulders, the girls now look ahead with the confidence and motivation that they’ve built up all season, ready to lead themselves and their teammates toward a state championship. This meet record isn’t just a milestone, it’s a sign of what’s to come in the future.
