HSE Girls Tennis match against Guerin Catholic on April 28, 2025.
Tomorrow night, the Hamilton Southeastern girls tennis team will resume their Mudsock matchup against the Fishers Tigers. The match, initially started last week, was cut short due to lightning in the area, leaving several games unfinished. Now, both teams return to the court to determine the coveted Mudsock title.
Sophomore Julia Anderson at Number 1 singles and senior Evelyn Hiner at Number 3 singles face challenging starts, as both players are already down a set heading into tomorrow’s play. Despite the deficit, the Royals are determined to fight back and secure a victory, especially after last year’s tough loss, which saw Fishers claim the trophy.
The Tigers, led by standout player Mischa Briggs, bring significant talent to the table. Briggs, a five-star recruit and one of the top-ranked players in the nation, will complete her match against Anderson. Although the odds may seem stacked, Anderson has the consistency and resilience to push the match into a thrilling three-set battle.
A victory tomorrow will be crucial for the Royals as they prepare for the Hamilton Crossroads Conference (HCC) Championships. Currently holding a 2-4 record in HCC play, the Royals have secured notable wins over Franklin Central and Noblesville. They will compete this Thursday and Saturday at the Zionsville High School Tennis Center, where they hope to make a strong showing in the conference tournament.
The Royals are hungry for redemption and eager to showcase their strength under pressure. With determination and grit, they aim to flip the script and bring the Mudsock trophy back to Southeastern.
As Head Coach Gernert puts it, “We are down, but never out.”
