As the HSE Boys Lacrosse team’s regular season comes to an end, the postseason looms closer and closer.
The Royals had a standout regular season this year and it is setting a positive tone going into the playoffs. As HSE prepares for the quarter final game against Westfield this Saturday the 24th, we asked varsity player Vince Putnam some questions on expectations going into the post-season.
When asked about how the team is preparing differently for the post season compared to the regular season, Putnam states that “We are focusing on the details before practice so we can better apply them during the 2 hours we get for practice”. We also asked about the difficulties the team may face going into the playoffs and facing the tough competition that comes with it. Putnam claims that “The challenge I anticipate most this post-season is us beating ourselves. I truly believe we are the best team and our biggest competition is ourselves.”
What makes this team special wasn’t just individual skill—it was how seamlessly they worked together. The offense was unselfish, constantly swinging the ball for the best shot. The defense communicated like a single unit. The sidelines were loud, locked in, and supportive every second of every game. But what I believe what makes this ‘24/’25 team special is the fact that this isn’t just a team—it is a family. From pasta dinners and locker room playlists to late night workouts and lengthy bus rides, the bond is real.
The upperclassmen set the tone. The underclassmen rose to the occasion. Everyone played their part. Even the bench played a role—pushing the starters in practice, staying ready, and bringing energy when it mattered most.
In conclusion this begs the question; Do the Hamilton Southeastern Royals have the grit to pull off the back-to-back championship win? Or will they fall short and have to rebuild for next year? Only time will tell.
