The HSE Softball team concluded their 2025 Regular season on a 6-1 loss against Franklin Central on May 23, bring their season record to 17-7.
Earlier this month the team faced off against Brownsburg in what Senior, Grace Swedarsky, described as their best win of the season. “The game lasted 9 innings and it was a battle throughout,” Swedarsky said. “It really tested our mental toughness and helped us grow as a team.”
As the season progressed, the Royals gained a clear understanding of their strengths. “I think the team’s biggest strengths this season have been our team cutler and our leadership.” Junior, Addison Richmond said. “We have such strong leaders in each class, especially the senior this year.”
Heading into the postseason, the Royals looks to make another deep run toward a state title. They will be led by Richmond at the plate with 17 RBI’s and holds a strong .405 batting average, and by Swedarsky on the mound, who has tallied 193 strikeouts this season.
The Royals have noticed all of the pressure on their backs this season. “Obviously after winning State last year, we have had a lot of pressure to perform,” Swedarsky said.” Which we have been doing decently well at.”
Now, with the post season underway, The Royals are more focused than ever. “I feel like we haven’t set any ‘expectations’ for ourselves,” Swedarsky said. “The winning will take care of itself.”
