One year ago, Kameron Anthony just begun his redshirt freshman year as a tight end where he was just learning and picking up on the team dynamic and the coaching. Kam is now going into his sophomore year, so he is going to get his first taste of games with his team. He has big goals and big expectations that he wants to live up to, but most importantly he has family.
Anthony’s family has always been there right by his side. They give him support at football games along with letting him come back home whenever he feels because Ball State is close to his home. Without them Anthony never would’ve gotten to where he is now.
“With home being so close,” Anthony said, “you know that did sway my decision a little bit in coming here because my house is only 45 minutes away from campus so I can shoot home whenever.”
Family is a huge reason why Anthony decides to go to Ball State so he can see them more often. If he didn’t love them or if they didn’t love him, he probably would’ve moved farther away or at least chose a different college. He is overall happier now so he has people who he can see that he’s familiar with. “My family has just been really supportive,” Anthony said.
“One of my goals in the next couple years is to win the John Mackey award, which is the best tight end in college football and then my dad was like go do it you have the ability, you have the confidence, go do it.”
Even though he didn’t intentionally choose number 85, he embraced it and now uses it to show appreciation towards his dad and live on his football legacy. Without his dad to help him out throughout his childhood he most likely would not be playing in college right now.
“That was just handed to me when I got here last year as a freshman,” Anthony said. “But my dad did play at Indiana University, and he wore that number through his whole career.”
