Ball State University, like many, has a lot of unique experience for potential students that they can offer. With a 72 percent acceptance rate, it also has a thriving campus life which is mixed with the prestigious recording programs offered at the university. However they also have many things the majority of universities offer such as a division one football program. This program has undergone changes this offseason both in the roster and in the staff and these changes could help give new opportunities for those who have been waiting for a chance to prove themselves.
Kameron Anthony, an Indiana native who grew up in Fishers, is the closest thing to homegrown talent you might find in the program. Even in youth he aspired to play football and received the guidance of his father, and former footballer, Stephen Anthony.
Kam when asked about the transfer portal mentioned the absence of many players.
“We had three tight ends cut one hit the portal.”
Whether cut or transferred Anthony will have more opportunities after a full season on the bench being Red-Shirted.
However there will still be plenty of competition for spots on this squad as new head coach Mike Uremovich in his first season will be looking to impress the Cardinal faithful and bringing a winning culture with him. With Mike having many years under his belt of not only winning but developing talent across the team he will seek to help improve the whole squad. His experience being especially beneficial for the tight end position, which is Kameron’s position group, as his decades of experience will be helpful develop Kameron as well as the other players from that position.
With this new window of opportunity in mind he is raising the bar for himself and setting his goals and ambitions high.
“My goal is to win the John Mackey award, which is the best tight end award, and my dad is like ‘Go do it!’”
With these high expectations there will undobtedly be a tremendous amount of work for Kameron to develop not only to help raise himself but help raise his team to new heights.
Not only has his father influenced him but his family has been a major help in both supporting his goals and aspirations but is also making their own way to their own aspiring college careers. Family also being one of the main motivators for him to stay close to home. Kameron will be looking to impress not only his supportive the fans but also his devoted family on Saturdays with his performances.
As for his future he hopes, like most footballers, to play in the NFL as well as having aspirations of playing for his hometown team the Indianapolis Colts. Having these high dreams will push him to be better as now with more opportunities in this upcoming season he will be just one of many players to watch and support as they make their way through their young lives to achieve their ambitions.
