The Unified Flag Football team competed against their rivals, the Fishers Tigers, in an unfortunate loss. With touchdowns from Quentin Willoughby, Mia McIntosh, Everett Hall, and Jackson Brydges, the Royals came up short, but spirits were high on September 11.
There were some great passes from both outstanding quarterbacks, George Moser and Jack Trant. Q’s rushing touchdown always brings an eruption from the crowd no matter where the game is played. Jack Trant handed off the ball to Mia for her to add one toward the end of the second half. The energy from both teams was booming at the end, no matter who had the lead.
“Seeing celebrations of every moment, even when things were not going well on our team and cheering for both teams,” Coach Lawhead said. “The way I see it, at the end of the day it’s not about who wins, but about whether they truly had the best time out there.”
After every game, the team huddles up together in the middle of the field with the other team and they share their chant. The team chants GRIP: G stands for Gratitude, R for Respect, I for Integrity, and P for Purpose. At the very end, they yell, “I have a purpose, and the world is better because I am in it.” Win or lose, it reminds them all that they belong and have a purpose. The chant is truly one of the most amazing parts of any game and one of the best traditions at Hamilton Southeastern.
Mudsock is always an important game for both teams, but this one was more than just a competition—it was about the celebrations and keeping spirits high.
The Royals now look ahead to competing at home against the Franklin Central Chargers, aiming for a win to bring their record up to 2–3.
