For Madi Miles, Bre Morgan, and Merritt Sliwa the spotlight found them this season. Together the Hamilton Southeastern athletes turned hard work into a statewide recognition as they were chosen to be on the IndyStar Volleyball Super team of 2025.

Madi Miles, a returning state champion, is a senior at Hamilton Southeastern. The outside hitter has totaled 131 kills this season, averaging 3.7 per set with a .295 hitting percentage. Her dominance on the court earned her a spot on the First IndyStar Preseason Super Team, establishing her as one of the most impactful hitters in Indiana.
“The most fun I had was when we were taking pictures,” Madi said. “They gave us poses and there were a lot of cameras, which was cool to see.”
But it wasn’t just the cameras that made the day special. For Madi, it was the chance to share the experience with not only her teammates but also her closest friends.
“I was so excited, especially when I saw who I was doing it with,” she added, referencing her fellow Royals who also made the Super Team.

Throughout this season, Bre Morgan has become one of HSE’s most consistent attackers. A senior who has been on varsity since her sophomore year, Bre plays as a middle hitter and opposite. She averages around two kills per set and earned a spot on the IndyStar Super Team second team. The recognition was a moment of pride for her and her family.
“Throughout my volleyball career nothing has ever been handed to me,” Bre said. “So, it means a lot for someone to recognize me as one of the best in Indiana.”
For Bre, the honor was even more meaningful because she could celebrate it alongside her teammates. “It felt amazing that all of us were being recognized for such an honor,” she said.

Merritt Sliwa is the playmaker behind HSE’s offense. She has contributed 99 kills through her first 12 matches, averaging 2.8 per set. Her ability to attack while also running the offense makes her the core of the Royals’ system. Merritt earned a spot on the third team of the IndyStar Super Team, and when she found out, she said she felt nothing but gratitude.
“Getting the chance to take pictures with my friends and being interviewed,” Merritt said, “was the most fun part of the experience.” She also shared that, “Being able to talk about 21 days of prayer to IndyStar was really special to me.”
IndyStar published an article featuring quotes and photos of the athletes, highlighting who they are and why they were chosen. Merritt said she was proud to be included in that spotlight.

Having one athlete named to the IndyStar Super Team is rare. Having three teammates recognized in the same season is a major achievement. With leaders like Madi Miles, Bre Morgan, and Merritt Sliwa, Hamilton Southeastern continues to prove it belongs among the state’s elite programs. Their hard work and dedication set the standard for younger Royals who hope to follow in their footsteps.
