The Hamilton Southeastern High School boy’s cross country team delivered a statement performance at the IHSAA Sectional 16 meet in Noblesville on Saturday, October 18, 2025, highlighted by a dominant individual win and a strong team showing that advanced the Royals to the regional round.
Senior standout Liam Powers led the charge for HSE, capturing the individual sectional title with an outstanding time of 15:14.3. Powers’ performance set the tone early, as he surged to the front of the pack in the first mile and never looked back. His confident pacing and late-race kick separated him from a deep and talented field that included some of the best runners in Central Indiana.
Behind Powers, the Royals showed the kind of depth that has been a trademark of their season. Several runners finished close together, helping HSE secure a top five team finish and punch their ticket to regionals. Though official team scores were still being finalized at the time of reporting, HSE’s consistency across the board left no doubt that the Royals belong among Indiana’s elite programs.
The Noblesville course offered a mix of rolling terrain and fast stretches, with mild fall weather — perfect for strong performances. Fans lined the final straightaway, cheering as HSE runners crossed one after another, sealing another successful postseason appearance.
With regionals up next, the Royals are poised to keep their momentum going. Hamilton Southeastern will compete again next Saturday in the IHSAA Regional meet at White River Park, where they’ll look to continue their postseason push and build on their sectional success.
