Max Inman is one of the top wrestlers here at HSE. Looking to make Varsity in his sophomore year was a chance to prove himself to everyone—but life had other plans, and those plans changed everything.
Over the summer, Inman was wrestling when everything was going right, until it wasn’t. “I tore my labrum in the summer going into my sophomore year,” Inman said. “I was wrestling and my shoulder popped out of place.” Max was able to get surgery that same summer, but the injury caused him to be sidelined for eight months, making him miss all of last season.
Dealing with injuries is something all athletes never want to go through, especially when they’re as serious as Inman’s. Not only does it take a tole on the physically, but also mentally. “It took a huge mental tole on me,” Inman said. “PT got very and boring. I was depressed. My parents helped me stay on track kept my hopes high and helped me get through it.” This type of injury was one that Inman didn’t expect to affect him as much as it did.
Inman’s parents played a huge role in his recovery process and in making sure he could make the comeback that he strives. “My parents where my biggest supporters,” Inman said. “My mom was always there to talk to, and my dad kept my hopes high and kept on reminding me its all for the greater good.” Having his loved ones there with him along his journey is something truly special.
While he was out last season, he strived to become a better motivator for the team. “Max was big motivator to the team,” sophomore Spencer Lawhead said. “He helped kept the energy up in the room during practice, even when people where tired.” Inman didn’t let his injury effect the team’s morale and tried to keep everyone on the right path.
Inman is looking to make a huge comeback and make a name for himself this year. His goal is to make it to state and win it.
