The HSE boys’ soccer team faced off in a fierce match against Mudsock rivals’ Fishers High School on Tuesday September 12th. After a controversial game last year ending in a 2-1 win for the Tigers the boys had a lot to play for, making it a more emotional game as well.
Captain, Jack Anderson, “The chance to play my last official mudsock alongside this team was really special. This team is the closest and most impactful team that I’ve ever been a part of, and I love all these guys. With a large, close senior class, we have been able to experience our entire high school careers together, so playing Fishers again next to all of the guys that we played them with 3 years ago on the freshman team was really special” (Captain Jack Anderson). The boys had been waiting for this matchup to come all season. Unfortunately, halfway through the first half the tigers broke the silence and buried the first goal. The royals felt the pressure and minutes later they capitalized, and that was that. After one goal apiece the scoring for the night was done and the royals were not happy.
Cooper Perez, a sophomore, explains that he “was frustrated we had tied Mudsock because of all the hype we had around it”. He continues that “we made a mistake early on and were penalized for it but we kept fighting back for the goal and I’m incredibly proud of our group for that. We controlled the game and played with a higher intensity than them but just fell short. We will beat them next time we see them”. Stay tuned for the rest of the Boys Soccer season as they will likely face off against the tigers again on their journey to state.
The bond that we have made is really cool and is what makes our team as good as we are”
