Shoes squeaking across the floor, Madi Miles leaps up and powerfully spikes the volleyball, landing it in a spot the other team fails to see, and scoring another point for HSE. The HSE Girls Volleyball team has been doing well this season, winning eighteen overall games and only losing two. The team’s chemistry is undeniable, and seeing their success through the season regardless of losing quality seniors is proof of their athleticism, determination, and collective will to overcome any challenges that they come across.
This is where Miles comes in because she has emerged as a key leader for her team this season, stepping up to the net after losing key players and helping to guide her team to success in every game. Her amazing performance and bond with her teammates have solidified her role as a rising star and have made her a part of the driving force behind the team’s resilience and recent wins.
“Positive energy from fellow teammates and us all having the same goals to win,” Miles says, “helps motivate me when I’m tired”.
That’s what she responded when asked what keeps her going when she’s stressed or tired. As a 6’1 outside hitter junior, Madi Miles has already verbally committed to playing Division One volleyball at the University of Illinois. Fellow teammate senior Ava Hunter had only good things to say about Miles.
“Madi is a great player and a great teammate” Ava exclaimed, “she works extremely hard at everything she does”.
Along with being a great athlete, she’s a great person on and off the court as noted by her other teammates. Lindsey Mangleson, an outside hitter and a senior on the team this year, also has great things to say about Madi Miles. As a junior, she has made a lasting impact on her friends and teammates around her.
“Madi is such a bright light, she always finds a way to make me laugh,” Lindsey said. “She is an amazing player and an even better person!”
All in all, Madi Miles is loved by many and a great friend to all. Her athleticism shows through her amazing skills on the court. With her D1 commitment and her only ever-improving skills, she is a person to watch out for now and in the future. With her unwavering spirit and talent, Madi Miles is poised to make a lasting impact in the world of volleyball, inspiring those around her both on and off the court.
