Anna Tittle, a senior midfielder, has been pivotal in this historic girls’ soccer season, earning Athlete of the Week for September 9/9–9/14, 2024. Known for her exceptional soccer intelligence, great possession skills, and precise passing, Tittle’s presence on the field is felt in every match. Her leadership, soccer IQ, and ability to control the tempo of the game make her a standout player.
“Anna is so smart,” Head Coach Greg Davidson said. “She reads the game very well and has been the glue keeping the midfield balanced from offense to defense.”
Tittle’s soccer journey began when she was just four years old, and from the start, her family played a vital role.
“I’ve played soccer since I was four, and my dad was my first coach,” Anna said. “He used to tie my cleats so tight they’d have little bubbles in them.”
Her older brother, Oscar Tittle, also played a significant role in shaping her soccer career. As a varsity captain who graduated after the 2022-2023 season, Oscar has been a constant source of inspiration for Anna.
“It’s awesome being able to watch Anna become a better player over the years. She puts a lot of work in, so seeing her enjoy the game and give it her all every time she plays will never not be fun to watch,” Oscar said. “She loves to win and hates to lose—no one can take that from her.”
Their family has always been their biggest supporters, and both Anna and Oscar credit much of their success in soccer to the support they’ve received from them.
“Our parents’ support has been amazing throughout the years,” Oscar said. “They’ve spent lots of time and money to watch us play the sport we love. Without their support, there is no success for Anna and I.”
While her family has helped shape her success, Anna’s connection with her teammates has been just as important.
“One of the most memorable moments I have shared with this team is getting hype in the locker room before each game,” Tittle said. “Another memorable moment I had was when I scored in the game against Pendelton Heights, and I ran to hug my teammate, Abby Straus.”
The camaraderie and trust she’s built with her teammates have contributed to their success this season.
“Our ability to stay connected and communicate on and off the field has really helped us this year.” Tittle said.
Another source of motivation comes from the younger players who look up to her.
“The younger girls who come to support us remind me of when I was their age,” Tittle said. “I want to inspire them by playing my best.”
This connection to the next generation as well as her strong support system fuels her drive to keep forming at such a high level.
Coach Davidson emphasized how Anna has evolved as not just a player, but a person over the years.
“Anna has had to put in the work. She has developed her game and outworked others that originally had higher skill levels,” Davidson said. “She now matches the best players on our varsity team with skill and has always had the work ethic.”
Davidson also reflected on the significance of both Athlete of the Week awards this season being earned by his midfielders, with Anna joining fellow senior Cole Lance in receiving the honor.
“Our midfield is special, no doubt. Anna and Cole have both contributed tremendously to keeping the team balanced,” Davidson said. “But to not promote our defense that has two Division 1 and 1 Division 2 athletes in the starting lineup, plus two quality subs, would be a disservice to the strength of this team.”
Looking to the future, she plans to study Management and Marketing at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. While she doesn’t plan to continue playing soccer competitively, she hopes to keep the sport in her life in some way.
Her focus for now is on finishing the playoffs on a high note, knowing her family, teammates, and coaches have all played a part in shaping the player she has become.
