The Hamilton Southeastern Varsity Cheerleading squad will travel to New Castle to compete in the Indiana Varsity State Competition on November 9th.
After earning their spot at State during the qualifying competition on October 26th, the Royals are now directing their full attention to this competition. Facing off against Fishers, Carmel, Westfield, and other talented schools, the team knows this will be another competitive competition that they will need to remain focused in order to take home the state championship. However, throughout the season, this team has faced adversity and conquered challenges thrown their way. Nothing is expected to change as both the coaches and athletes are prepared to shine in the moment and achieve their goal of becoming state champions with a routine they have been preparing since the summer.
“These athletes are mentally and physically ready to compete!” Coach Hudson said. “We ensure they are prepared fully to perform the routine by working our way up to throwing the full routine multiple times at practice.”
Competing with great confidence, the Royals have produced strong routines in past competitions. Perfecting their routine in practice during the week, the team knows that they need to be focused and carry their confidence in the routine heading to State to have success. As the competition season has moved along, the team has grown close through the highs and lows and will look to put their best performance out on the mat, while chasing a state title, when they compete in the top division on November 9th.
“We spend 5 to 7 days together at practice so this creates such a tight bond and preaches what we call culture,” junior Lexi Perozzi said. “We are all striving for the same goal so we can depend on each other while we go through the ups and downs.”
Up next in line after State, for the Competition Cheer team is preparing for Nationals in Orlando, Florida, in February.
