Hamilton Southeastern Boys’ Basketball fell short to Noblesville on Friday, January 31. Despite their perseverance and hard work on the court, the game resulted with a score of 49-54.
Going into the game Noblesville with a record of 11-4, and HSE with a record of 8-9, basketball fans knew that it was going to be an intense game for the Royals.
Although the game did not result in a win, the efforts on the court from the Royals did not go unnoticed. For example, key plays from HSE included: Maverick Young took a charge, Luke Weemer hit a clutch three-pointer, Varshon Clark stole a possession and scored in transition, and Braeden Totton brought an unmatched intensity on both sides of the court.
Braeden Totton, an HSE Senior, has done a phenomenal job being a role model for his team. Despite being the only senior on the team this year, Totton has always kept a positive and optimistic attitude this season.
Being the only senior on the team, he is highly respected by his younger teammates and takes his leadership role seriously, especially when facing well-organized teams like Noblesville.
“Some strengths I’ve gained throughout the year is probably my leadership. I feel like vocal leadership has gotten a lot better,” Totton expressed. “Bringing guys together at the end of the game and bringing unity to the team has played a big role for me this year.”
Totton showed his leadership skills by redirecting the team during adversity, remaining calm during stressful plays, and bringing an unmatched attitude and positivity. His mindset continues to inspire his teammates by striving to become a team, and not just a roster.
This upcoming week, the Royals will take on Franklin Central on Thursday, February 6th. After overcoming challenges in the Noblesville game, the team has learned from their weaknesses and is prepared to bring home a victory.
