Mason Alexander passed away in a car crash on March 1st, 2025. We are publishing this profile to remember his legacy at HSE and his impact on those who knew him.

A little kid quickly receives the football for the very first time in the first play. He grips the football tightly, so it can’t go anywhere. He moves his feet quickly. He dodges people left and right. He takes wide, fast strides. His heart racing, sweat dripping. He soon finds himself far ahead of everyone on the field. He keeps running, one foot In front of another. He finds himself in the endzone. Touchdown! As he looks up into the stands there is his mom and dad celebrating with smiles on their faces. Then everyone is crowded around him celebrating him with smiles on their faces.
Mason Alexander is a senior defensive back (DB) at Hamilton Southeastern High School. He is number 15 on the football field. His football career started after his first touchdown in the little leagues. Ever since, Alexander has been in love with the sport. Alexander will soon attend Pittsburg University to pursue his football dreams.
Alexander has grown as a person and as a football player throughout his many years of being on a football team.
“You learn a lot about life,” Alexander said. “Like never give up and to keep pushing through.”
Alexander has learned valuable life lessons from Coach Kelly, while being on the football team for so long. Alexander has known Coach Kelly for four years.
“Mason has grown tremendous over the course of the last four years,” Coach Kelly said. “He has great positive energy. I look forward to seeing what he is able to achieve in life.”
Alexander is a Pittsburgh Panther committed and will be attending after this year. He is excited for what comes with the opportunity to play at the college level.
“Honestly just playing at a college level,” Alexander said. “Just seeing all the fans, because I think in Pitt we hold 68,000 people.”
Mason is excited for the environment that Pittsburgh University brings. But he says that the mental part of football is very critical.
“It’s just a mindset and everything you do no matter what,” Alexander said. “If it was easier everybody would be doing it.”
Mason Alexander has played football for many years. He has learned many things through his career in playing football. He is excited to soon start a new chapter in his football career by playing football for Pittsburgh University.
“I want to be a leader to everybody,” Alexander said. “Like people can look up to.”
