#1 Girls Soccer travels to Westfield to take on the #4 Shamrocks, in a Hoosier Crossroad Conference (HCC) matchup on Wednesday, September 18th.
After a disappointing result against Fishers this past week and confident wins over Carroll FW and Leo FW on Saturday, the Royals are looking to find some key wins and build confidence almost three weeks before sectional play begins.
Westfield is a talented team, led by Butler commit Kate Malin, who has eight goals through 10 games thus far.
“Westfield is a pretty tough team with lots of talent.” Senior Abby Straus said.
With big wins over Pendleton Heights and Franklin Central, and a good tie against #2 Noblesville, the Shamrocks look to prove why they’re a force to be reckoned with not only in the HCC, but in the IHSAA tournament as well.
On the other side of the ball, #1 HSE is looking to continue their path toward a state title.
The Royals are led by the sister duo of junior Sloane May and freshman Sydney May. The two forwards have combined for 18 goals and 10 assists through 12 games this season.
Impressive wins are all over HSE’s resume, including Brownsburg, Homestead, Penn and Leo. This past week, the Royals played what some would consider “down” to their opponents level, escaping with a tie against Fishers (5-3-1) after a goal in the 78th minute.
“We need to make sure we attack the game fast and take shots to get up early,” sophomore Lauren Kutoloski said. “We need to play our game and not worry about who our opponent is.”
