High competition, hard work, and Hamilton Southeastern’s Girls Varsity Soccer Team. Ranked second in the state, this team starts off their preseason by attending the Midwest Festival in Columbus Ohio from July 19th to July 20th. They finished this weekend’s tournament off strong with a 3-0-1 record.
Hamilton Southeastern’s first matchup was against Archbishop. Sloane May and Riley Boyd make their Senior debut leading their team to the first goal by May and assisted by Boyd. Senior, Rylie Bridges does just the same with the second goal of the weekend and game.
Throughout the battle, Juniors, Sophie Reising and Kherrington Patton, were able to live up to their new role of upperclassman as they pushed the final score to 5-0 with two goals from Patton and one from Reising, the team was able to secure their first win of the weekend.
By the evening, Hamilton Southeastern was down a player. Senior, Sloane May was unable to continue the weekend. Although, the team stayed prepared for their last game of the day against Olentangy High School. With a slow start to the game, Riley Boyd was able to add one to the score board with an assist from Sophomore, Sydney May.
After half, and attempts at different formations, Riley Boyd secured another goal and 1 point lead. To put an end to the game, Sydney May scored with an assist from Addison McClain. The team rounded out their first day with an 3-1 win, therefore, putting their record for the first half of the weekend at 2-0.
On July 20th, Hamilton Southeastern played throughout their last two games of the preseason. Starting off with a fiery competitive game against #1 ranked in Ohio, Walsh Jesuit. Both teams fought a tough battle throughout the entirety of the game yet ended with a 0-0 tie.
The team gave all they had left to the final game of the weekend against Lakota West. Sydney May secured the first goal for Hamilton Southeastern with an assist from Sophomore, Lilly Palmer. Shortly after, Kherrington Patton, pulled through with the second goal from an assist by Sophomore, Kaylee Reitmeier. Lastly, Riley Boyd came through with the last goal and the final score of 3-0.
Hamilton Southeastern left the Midwest Soccer Festival with a 3-0-1 record and a newly established foundation to build upon this preseason as they prepare and compete for the fall.
