As the HSE Girls Golf Team takes on the IHSAA Sectionals, expectations are high, and blood is rushing as they step off the bus at Harbour Trees Golf Club. After a technical range session and a long hard worked putting practice, Karolina Franssen, Senior led the team off the tee at 9:50 AM. Shortly following her were Maya Cieply, Sophomore, Laci Hart, Senior, Sophie Roberts, Sophomore and Janelle Garcia, Junior. It was a great start for the Royals after Janelle Garcia went Out of Bounds off her tee shot and still saved par with a great recovery 3rd shot putting it to 8 feet and sinking it.
After a great first 9 holes, The HSE Royals and the Noblesville Millers are cutting it close at a chance of a Sectional Championship. Coming down the stretch on the Par 3, 18th hole, Janelle Garcia sends the ball on a rope, pin seeking, as it lands 2 feet past the hole and spins back to within a foot. Making that putt for birdie, Garcia finished with a 74 (+3) sending herself into a battle for medalist. As they replayed the 18th hole, Noblesville’s #1 hit a beautiful ball spinning to the green landing 4 feet from the cup, giving her a great chance at pulling away with the win. Janelle replied with a green in regulation giving her a 20-footer for birdie to try and keep the Royals’ chances alive. Janelle hit the putt with great pace and played the break, coming up short finishing with a par. Noblesville’s #1 sunk the 4-footer for birdie and clinched the IHSAA Sectional Championship for the Millers.
It was a great day for the Royals placing 2nd In the Sectional, moving on with the Millers and the Orioles playing in the IHSAA Regionals this Saturday at 9:00 AM at Edgewood GC.
