As this year’s season comes to a close, the HSE Boys Soccer team is nearing the IHSAA State Tournament.
Captain of the team, Jack Anderson, explains that “[the] team has really been in their groove as of lately, and our recent play is building us up for the state tournament” Anderson said.
They are currently undefeated and seated number 1 in their conference. While they’re in this position, there is trust that they will perform with great success.
To prepare all season, senior Cade Joniec, explains that they have “brought intensity to every practice session and focused heavily over the summer on fitness” Joniec said.
Both boys touched on the fact that this year’s team has been different than the other years. Helping them prepare, they have been very close with one another. Joniec mentions he thinks “everyone feels a lot more connected to the program and to each other than we have in the past” Jonie said. With this deeper connection, it will lead to a positive impact as they reach closer to sectionals on October 7.
After all of the excitement from their recent win against Zionsville, which has only been achieved once before within school history, Anderson explains that the boys are starting to rest up and preparing to win against Fishers at sectionals in the next couple of weeks, moving forward in the tournament from there.
Stakes are high and expectations are up, but there is no doubt that the boys will come and take that state title.
