The girls varsity golf team have had a fantastic season with a winning record of 3-0. Their first head-to-head matchup was against the Carmel Greyhounds, and it was a tight match with HSE winning 161-164. Senior Karolina Franssen medaled to obtain their first win of the season.
Although they had success in head-to-head match ups, the Royals need to work on their invitational and championship play. During the very prestigious Hamilton Crossroads Conference (HCC) Championship, the Royals placed 4th out of 5 teams who competed. The HCC is one of the hardest conferences in girls golf with the HCC having 4 of the top 5 teams in the state according to the final coaches’ poll. During this event two Royals were named all-conference including junior Janelle Garcia who shot a 73 and sophomore Sophie Roberts who shot a 77 to earn all-conference honors.
Going into the Noblesville sectionals at Harbour Trees Golf Club, the Royals will need to defeat notable teams such as second ranked Noblesville, Fishers, Pendleton Heights, and Anderson. The Royals will need to place 3rd or higher to successfully advance to regionals. The Royals are currently ranked number 5 in the state and should cruise through sectionals and regionals with ease. Make sure to go out and support the Royals on September 23rd with their first tee time at 9AM. Good luck Royals!
