The Hamilton Southeastern varsity softball team competed against the Fishers Tigers in the 2026 Softball Mudsock game. Hamilton Southeastern defeated the tigers, winning with a score of 7 to 1. The game was played at the Hamilton Southeastern home fields, on April 28, 2026.
During the Mudsock game, both Hamilton Southeastern and Fishers hosted their youth night. This youth night was held to encourage and motivate young softball players who dream of one day being able to call themselves either a royal or tiger on their future high school softball team.
Additionally to hosting the future of Hamilton Southeastern softball, the Royals also played under circumstances that are not standard to the rest of their season. Hamilton Southeastern’s starting pitcher, Grace Swedarsky, sat out during the Mudsock game due to physical limitations. This meant the game’s starting pitcher would be Kaleah McCarter. Kaleah McCarter pitched throughout the game along with Natavia Wright, who also spent time pitching during the game.
While this game was just one of many Mudsock matchups to the team’s upperclassmen, for Jaycee McCarter, the varsity team’s only freshman, this was her first experience in competing in Hamilton Southeastern’s biggest rivalry game.
Jaycee McCarter reflected on how her emotions felt playing in her first Mudsock softball game, “At first it was kind of scary seeing how many people are here,” Jaycee McCarter said, “but after like a couple at bats and playing with the girls everything had calmed down, and it was so fun.”
Jaycee McCarter also scored a homerun during the Mudsock game. Although Jaycee McCarter’s was the only homerun of the night, this run added to her ongoing list of runs throughout her season. Jaycee McCarter spoke about how hitting her eighth homerun felt at Mudsock, “My favorite moment of mud suck was probably my home run.”
With a big rivalry game, comes big energy. This was true for both the athletes and the crowd. Fans came to Hamilton Southeastern repping their supporting school’s colors of either red or blue. Filling both the stands and surrounding green areas, the support from the teams’ fans could be felt throughout the field.
The fan energy was reflected onto the team’s chemistry that felt electric both out on the field and in the dugout. Ella Sicilia reflected on how the team’s energy molded her favorite moments from playing in the Mudsock game, “How hype everyone was and stacked and we all played together.”
