Hockey has been part of Dylan Beaulieu’s life as long as he can remember, shaping both his love for the game and the competitor he has become. From learning alongside his brother to embracing the speed and physicality of the ice, Beaulieu’s journey is defined by passion, hard work, and the moments that push him to grow as a player.
“My dad put my brother on skates one year, and when I asked to try too, he got me some gear and signed me up for a learn-to-play program” (Beaulieu said).
What started as a simple chance to follow in his brother’s footsteps quickly became a source of motivation. Sharing the ice with his brother Lucas added an extra edge to his approach, helping fuel his competitive mindset.
“With my brother on the team, I compete harder because I want to show him, I’m not just his little brother, I’m his teammate” (Beaulieu said).
Competing alongside his brother brings out the best in Beaulieu, pushing him to approach every shift with purpose and intensity. That competitive mindset doesn’t fade when the game ends-it carries directly into practice, where improvement is earned through constant effort.
“My brother never takes it easy on me in practice, and that’s how we make each other better” (Beaulieu said).
Pushing each other in practice has taught Beaulieu the value of hard work and attention to detail. Those intense sessions at practice translate directly into how Beaulieu plays each game, shaping his style and approaching every time he steps onto the ice.
“The thing I love most about playing forward is making that cross-ice pass through defenders and watching my teammate score” (Beaulieu said).
Beaulieu’s love for creating plays and setting up teammates defines how he approaches the game. That passion came to a head during a pivotal moment, when he realized the impact, he could have in high-pressure situations.
“I knew hockey was my sport when my 14U team won the state championship—especially after tying the game with seven seconds left” (Beaulieu said).
Winning the state championship showed Beaulieu just how much hockey challenged and inspired him. That experience solidified not only his love for the game but also his appreciation for its speed, intensity, and the daily effort it demands.
“I chose hockey because it’s fast, physical, and fun—and it teaches me to work hard every single day” (Beaulieu said).
For Beaulieu, hockey is more than a game — it’s a way to challenge himself, push his limits, and enjoy the thrill of competition. Its fast pace and physical nature match his energy, while the lessons he learns on the ice carry over into everything he does.
