After a remarkable State Runner-Up finish at the outdoor State finals of the 2025-26 season, Hamilton Southeastern Girls Track and Field transitions to outdoor season with a new profound confidence and clear understanding of the work ahead. The team is focused on building upon their recent success at the Indoor State Finals while navigating the challenges of a new roster.
“Our plan is to rebuild in the distance events and improve in the field events”, Coach Alano said, “to be among the top teams in the state again.”.
While outstanding athletes have graduated and are now successful at the collegiate level such as Indiana University, Purdue University, Miami of Ohio and Taylor University, Coach Alano puts it in the hands of the talented athletes she must follow and withhold the graduated class’ standard.
“Chloe and Anissa should be among the best in the state in the 300 hurdles and 400 respectively,” said Coach Alano. “With two new teammates, the 4×400 hopes to repeat as state champs as well.”.
Sprint and relay events remain a strength, however, HSE is placing emphasis on growth in other areas. The team is aiming to rebuild its distance program and make strides in field events to become a more complete competitor across all 16 events.
“Our plan is to rebuild in the distance events and improve in the field events to be among the top teams in the state again.”, said Coach Alano.
Improvement is also expected in the 4×100 relay and in various field events in jumps, throws, hurdles and pole vault. Much of the team’s progress, specifically in these events, has been driven by offseason work and collaboration among coaches.
“We have multiple assistant coaches that are working on these event areas to make sure we are at our best across the board.”, said Coach Alano.
Although indoor results aren’t greatly emphasized for the team, the season still plays a key role in preparation for the team to show early success and progress.
“We don’t put too much value on how we do indoors, but it is a great opportunity for those that worked hard over the winder to see where they are at”, said Coach Alano, “and to compete with the best in the state in preparation for outdoor.”.
While titles and placements are important, Coach Alano and the teams primary focus is to be ready when it matters most. The returning talent, developing depth and commitment of the athletes and coaches, HSE is expected to one again be a contender at state.
